The Republic of Colombia is a country located in the northwestern part of South America. It shares its eastern border with Venezuela and Brazil, to the south are Peru and Ecuador and, in the northwest, is Panama; and it shares maritime borders with Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea, and with Panama, Costa Rica and Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean.

Colombia is divided into 32 departments and 1102 municipalities. Colombian landscape is very diverse. Its coastline gives onto the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and then there are arid lands, deserts, valleys, the Andean mountains, plains, vast jungles. Its population is multicultural, spread across regions and ethnic groups, and its economy is mainly based on agriculture and livestock.
